< - Back to Page 1 The Polytechnic Experiences the Gulper - 7/12/2011 As an essential part manufacturing and improving the Gulper, technical staff from the Department of Engineering witnessed the gulper in action in Ndirande. This was collaboration between TEECS and Jetojoma, one of the successful entrepreneurs taken on board Sanitation Solutions program. The entire activity was fast tracked to give the engineering technician a firsthand opportunity to witness how the gulpers works and also appreciates the challenges faced by the current design. The technical staff had the opportunity to appreciate the gulper and take measurements they deemed necessary for their use. This was a rare moment for the staff and they appreciated the process and the challenges in pumping out sludge. The Operations Manager for Getojoma gave the visitors an insight into how they are conducting the business and limitations of using only one gulper with limited depth reach. It has been estimated that a sample would be ready within the next ten days subject to contractual agreement between TEECS and the Polytechnic. Sanitation Solutions Dates Bankers - 25/11/2011 LARGEST BANKS NATIONWIDE ARE NOW AWARE OF OPPORTUNITIES IN THE SANITATION SECTOR Sanitation as a Business in Malawi held a meeting on the 25th of November, 2011 at Ryalls Hotel with representatives from NBS Bank, Indebank, Malawi Savings Bank, National Bank of Malawi, IndeTrust Holdings, FDH Bank as well as some media houses. The meeting was very informative for the banks; they were briefed on the SAAB concept and enlightened on the opportunities available in the sanitation sector; as well as the key players in the sector. The banks were also challenged to come up with innovate products and ideas to support the sector.
Sanitation Meeting Held - 18/11/2011 MEETING REVEALS CREATIVE NEW MARKETING STRATEGIES TO BE USED FOR SANITATION PROJECT Sanitation as a Business in Malawi met with the selected six entrepreneurs on Friday, 18th November, 2011 to share information and ideas on their businesses and marketing strategies. The meeting was quite successful, and many new ideas were brought to the discussion table. Notable contributors include Gold Investments, whose team comprises of gentlemen with vast experience in latrine construction from their previous employment. The entire TEECs team as well as the entrepreneurs have a very positive outlook for the marketing phase ahead.
Entrepreneurs Selected for SAAB - 17/11/2011 THE FIRST MILESTONE REACHED SAAB is pleased to announce that out of the 30 applicants, 6 have been selected for the Sanitation as A Business Programme. The selected entrepreneurs are as follows: T-Sanitation, 3K Consultants, Chanda Sanitation, Runock Investments, Waleta Enterprises and Gold Investments. A meeting will be held soon for these entrepreneurs to discuss the way forward for TEECs.
